The sign said bring something small enough to carry. People arrived with a lamp, a wobbly stool, a jacket with a broken zip, and very different ideas about what might be possible.
Nobody at the table could fix everything. They could usually help someone work out what was wrong, and there was a surprising amount of satisfaction in simply understanding the problem.
We left with two working lamps, one steadier chair, and a list of tools to bring next time. The best part may have been learning who on the street knew how to sew.
